The
Identity of Christ
Jesus
Christ is the creator
of all that has existed: "For by
Him all things were created :
things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible ...
" He is the Divine "Son ... through
whom God made the universe"
and "is the radiance of God's
glory and the exact
representation of His being..."
Colossians 1:16; Hebrews 1:2-3

Jesus Christ is
the eternal Word who
once walked on the earth as a man: "In the
beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God...
Through Him all things were made ... the
Word became flesh and lived
for a while among us. He
(God) appeared in a body (in the flesh)..."
John 1:1-14; I Timothy 3:16 |
The prophet Isaiah looked across the
centuries and saw Jesus Christ, the coming
Divine Ruler over an eternal
kingdom: "For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is
given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And
He will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of
Peace. Of the increase of His
government and peace there will be
no end." Isaiah 9:6-7
Isaiah's
prophecy also identified Christ as our
sin-bearer : "Surely He took
up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows
... He was pierced for our
transgressions, He was crushed for our
iniquities; the punishment that
brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are
healed ... for He bore the sin
of many, and made intercession for the
transgressors." Isaiah 53:4-5, 12
| In the Book of
Revelation, Jesus Christ says of Himself :
"I am the Alpha
and the Omega,
who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty...
I am the First
and the Last,
the Beginning
and the End
... I am the Living One;
I was dead, and behold I am
alive for ever and ever! "
